Main weather observations (recorded during past 24 hours)
Scattered rainfall has occurred over east Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, coastal Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, isolated over west Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, north Orissa, west Madhya Pradesh and south Jharkhand between 08301730 hours IST of today.
The chief amounts of rainfall (. 2 cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are : Behraich, Gorakhpur, Keonjhargarh,3 each, Najibabad, Guna, Ahmdabad, Nagpur, Pendra, Jamshedpur, Patna, Honavar and Long Island2 each.
KALPANA 1: Cloud imagenery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, north Tamilnadu, north Kerala, southeast Arabian Sea, central & south Bay of Bengal and north Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country.
Synoptic features (based on 1730 hrs IST):
The upper air cyclonic circulation over Orissa and neighbourhood extending upto 4.5 km above mean sea level persists.
The western end of monsoon trough runs close to the foothills of Himalayas and eastern end passes through Lucknow, Varanasi, Daltonggunj, Chaibasa, Balasore and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
Meteorological analysis suggests that a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from 17th onwards.
The off shore trough runs from north Karnataka coast to Kerala coast.

Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over east and northeast India.
Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over west coast, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
Isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over rest parts of the country during next 23 days. However, rainfall activity would increase over Jammu & Kashmir after 24 hours.

Fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls would occur over Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India.
Fairly widespread rainfall would continue over northeastern states, east, central and adjoining north Peninsular India.
